Hello! Just to let you know that the wool shop will be closed on Monday 20th February as part of the UK National Day of Action against racism and xenophobia. You can find more information in http://www.1daywithoutus.org/, and #righttostay.

I feel this is particularly important for us not only because as a EU Citizen my future here in the UK is uncertain, but as a shop we have reps from Italy, Pakistan, and Britain. We get yarn delivered by British, Eastern European, Indian Sikh, and West Indian drivers. Our yarn is mainly manufactured in Turkey, Japan, Italy, Spain, Japan and Romania (even though the labels may say the company is based in Bradford).

It’s the joining of effort and skills from people from all over the world what makes this country (and knitting/crochet!) great.

So whether you knit Scottish, English, Continental, American, or like me, ‘weird’ way. Whether you cast off or bind off. Whether you call it single crochet, double crochet, punto enano (that pesky short crochet stitch, you know the one), it doesn’t matter. We all contribute to make this an exciting and creative place.

Without expats from other places Britain would be a greyer and poorer place. Let’s keep it varied and colourful.

See you all soon. I’ll be back on Tuesday 🙂

Lots of love

Hello and welcome to our new and (ever)developing website.

We would like to invite you to visit us at the wool shop, at 1 High Street, Newport Pagnell. For those of you who don’t know this town, it’s a lovely and traditional market town just north of Milton Keynes, (enter postcode MK16 8AR on the SatNav.) Apart from the wool shop, there is a great variety of charming independent shops in this quintessentially English town. I, personally am still to explore it, but I’ve been told they are lovely little independent shops, several boutiques, and to rest and refresh yourselves after your shopping we have a few nice pubs, coffee houses, and several good restaurants.P1100559

At the wool shop, as well as friendly staff you will find a gorgeous selection of your favourite yarn and tools – Katia, Lanas Stop, , Noro, Debbie Bliss, Louisa Harding, Adriafil, King Cole, James C Brett, Knit-Pro and Namaste needles, etc… and other very interesting yarns, including vibrant hand-spun yarn, naturally-dyed yarn and one-off art yarn created by independent textile artists. A true ever-changing Aladdin’s cave for you, creative people.

Come and browse our books and patterns, feel the yarn, ignite your imagination. See our original,  exclusive patterns, available free when you purchase the yarn from the wool shop.

We’ll be happy to help you with your chosen project should you need a bit of assistance – and to get you out of the ‘water’ if you’re a beginner – after all, we’ve all been there.

We also have tops and fleece for spinners and felt enthusiasts. We have some gorgeous Cormo raw fleece from the USA, I was  lucky enough to bag some of the beautiful grey and very dark brown fleece as well as some of the super buttery white ones.

We’re open 6 days a week as follows:

Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00 (except on Wednesdays when we close at 20:00 to accommodate our evening club and to give you the chance for a little bit of late shopping.).

Parking is free on the High Street opposite the shop, for 1 and half hours, and on the parking lot behind the church.

We look forward to welcoming you to our shop.
