2014 challenge: learn to knit/crochet!

Taste for a tenner.

2014 is the year to revive traditional arts and crafts.

Rediscover the satisfaction of making original and individual quality garments and accessories for you and yours (and your home!)

Knitting? Crochet? Have a go and see which one you fancy. Call us on 01234 910547 to book a session where you can see and feel the different textures and fabrics you can create, and have a go at both skills, then you decide. (Why not do both?)

Hello and welcome to our new and (ever)developing website.

We would like to invite you to visit us at the wool shop, at 18 High Street, Olney. For those of you who don’t know Olney, it’s a lovely and traditional small town between Northampton and Milton Keynes, (enter postcode MK46 4BB on the SatNav.) Apart from the wool shop, there is a great variety of charming independent shops in this quintessentially English town. Well worth a visit are the delicatessen (try the delicious local cheeses – mmmm), perfumist, antiques shops, several boutiques, and to rest and refresh yourselves after your shopping we have a few nice pubs, coffee houses, and several good restaurants.

At the wool shop, as well as friendly staff you will find a gorgeous selection of your favourite yarn and tools – Malabrigo, ShoppelWolle, Lang, Noro, Debbie Bliss, Louisa Harding, Katia, Adriafil, King Cole, James C Brett, Nude Ewe, Knit-Pro and Namaste needles, etc… and other very interesting yarns, including vibrant hand-spun yarn, naturally-dyed yarn and one-off art yarn created by independent textile artists. A true ever-changing Aladdin’s cave for you, creative people.

We have the famous Ondas, Triana and Rizos yarns (Ondas is very similar to Rico’s Can Can), and you can download the free patterns by clicking here: ondas scarf pattern.pdftriana scarf pattern.pdfrizos scarf pattern.pdf.

Come and browse our books and patterns, feel the yarn, ignite your imagination. See our original,  exclusive patterns, available free when you purchase the yarn from the wool shop.

We’ll be happy to help you with your chosen project should you need a bit of assistance – and to get you out of the ‘water’ if you’re a beginner – after all, we’ve all been there.

We also have tops and fleece for spinners and felt enthusiasts. We have some gorgeous Cormo raw fleece from the USA, I was  lucky enough to bag some of the beautiful grey and very dark brown fleece as well as some of the super buttery white ones.

We’re open 7 days a week as follows:

Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 17:00

Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00

Sunday from 11:00 to 15:00 from September to February (inc) – From March to August (inc) CLOSED on Sundays – gardening to be done! :-)

Parking is free on the High Street near the shop and on the parking lot behind the wool shop (East Street) – with no time restrictions so you can browse at leasure without worrying about the ‘boys and girls in blue’.

We look forward to welcoming you to our shop.
